Neil arrived to us in 1939 along with his older brother Joe, but Neil was the only one to stay, as the way he recounted the story:-

“Joe and I arrived together for our first day at Knock in 1939, but Joe was most reluctant to get out of the car, protesting that he wanted to stay in Clonmel and become a farmer like Daddy. So my father took one look at a nearby bullock in one of the school's fields and ask Joe what he thought he'd get for it at the market. Joe arrived at a very accurate figure, and my father, impressed, told him to say in the car and return to Tipperary while I carried on in.“

Neil went on to spend three very happy years at Knock, matriculating a year early to study medicine at UCG, then UCD. He qualified in 1952 and later became a Specialist in Public Health Medicine in Hove, Brighton and Gatwick Airport. He never forgot his alma mater though, and in 1977 paid us the ultimate honour in sending his son Paul, class '82, to be educated with us.

Neil had reached his 90th and celebrated it in fine style with his family. It was a life well lived. To Paul, his siblings Pat and Ann, and the wider Condon family, we extend our heartfelt sympathies.

Requiescat in Pace.
