Mick Kearney, class '74

Heartiest congrats to Michael Kearney who after four years in the hot seat will retire as manager of the Irish rugby team after the November international series, and a most successful four years to boot, with 6 Nations Championship wins in 2014 & 2015. It also has to be a source of pride to him that two of the stalwart players were fellow Knock men, Devin Toner '04 & Marty Moore '09 (and hat tip to Conor Mallaghan who captured this photo of Michael introducing Marty as sub for his first cap).

You would think with all that and being a kingpin in the franchise business, Mick would have had no time for the Union, but not a bit of it - for over the same time frame, he lent his time towards Union careers evenings, networking talks, annual dinners (where he brought the Six Nations Trophy along) and several return visits to the College to mentor the SCT squad. It was for that reason that the Union voted Mick 2015 Knock Man of the Year.

Your Union salutes you Mick.
