After a two year hiatus owing to the pandemic, we were delighted to welcome our pastmen back to the InterContinental Hotel in Ballsbridge for our annual Business Lunch. Union President, Mr Patrick Farrell, was pleased to welcome a crowd of in excess of 300 to the event.

The guest speaker at this year's event was Mr Martin Naughton of GlenDimplex. In characteristic fashion, Mr Naughton offered a number of incisive views on success in business to the assembled crowd. The numerous tips he provided only served to reiterate how he has achieved astonishing success as a businessman on a global scale. Mr Naughton further remarked on the role which the College had played in Irish education and that the College was a brand he was proud to be associated with. Patrick presented Mr Naughton with a specially commissioned painting of the College which marked the significance of his contribution over many years and of course his more direct links in the form of his sons Neil and Fergal, pastmen of the College and now highly successful leaders of GlenDimplex.

Mr Chris Kinder, College Headmaster, provided an update on developments at the College while Mr Adrian Flavin, Director of Rugby, presented a detailed report on the progression of rugby at the school since he was appointed.

Light entertainment was provided by the ever talented Mr Risteard Cooper who weaved all manner of political, sporting and social topics into a very amusing live performance.

Risteard also took up the offer of the gavel to coordinate the public auction of a signed rugby jersey for charity. The raffle on the day brought in a record sum and we are grateful to attendees for their generosity.

Overall, it was an event that lived up to the hype. It was a thrilling occasion to be back together in one venue as pastmen and we all collectively look to brighter days ahead.
