Daragh O'Loughlin, class '04, has been selected by Athletics Ireland to represent the Irish Team in the 24-Hour European Championships to take place in Albi, France on Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd October,2016.

To those not in the know, 24-Hour running is at the extreme end of the athletics spectrum - you run for 24 hours and the winner is the athlete who has covered the longest distance. So something like the 24 Hours Le Mans car rally but without the car!

The qualifying distance for the European Championships is 220 kms, but as his stats show, that's no problem for Daragh. What's even more impressive is that he was selected for the Irish team even though resident down under in Melbourne, Australia since 2008. He has obviously carved out quite a global reputation for himself in the sport.

We're not sure Ultra 24-Hour running will ever make it to the Union calendar but are confident that all will be cheering on Daragh towards the medal podium.

Run Daragh, run Daragh, run, run, run!
