Union Debate 2025

Pastmen,
I am very pleased to inform you that the Union Debate will be taking place once again on 16th October at 7pm in the College.
The motion will be "This House believes Ireland’s presidential election system is not fit for purpose."
The format will comprise two teams each consisting of two pastmen and two current students at the College.
Our former President, Mr Terence O'Rourke (Class of '72), will preside as Chair for the evening. Terence has held a number of esteemed positions in the past and is current chair of RTÉ.
I am also pleased to inform you that Ms Emer Currie TD will be our guest adjudicator with Mr Dick Wafer (former College staff and debating coach) and Ms Ciara Lawlor (College staff).
The event is free to attend but the College have requested that attendees RSVP in order to keep track of numbers.
We expect demand to be quite high in line with previous years so please book quickly to avoid disappointment.
I look forward to seeing you there on the evening.
Kind regards,
Richard Crinion, Union President
