Larry Cheevers, the longest travelled

A very enjoyable 40th Re-Union was held at Faithlegge Hotel and Country Club, Waterford in May 2002. The attendance, being 30 from a potential 60, exactly 50% was very satisfactory. The longest travelled was Larry Cheevers, from Vancouver, BC, Canada, who spoke extremely well at dinner. Larry subsequently shared his thoughts on Success with us:

To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by
a healthy child, a garden patch or a
redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

(William Emerson)

Vincent Browne, well known broadcaster, also spoke but failed to get a communal sing along, as was his wont on radio this summer. Winners of the golf competition were Ken Rohan and John McMahon.

We are now looking forward, or as we used to say "Bruising on" to the 50th
