Congratulations to pastman Conor McMeel (class of '12) who emerged victorious in the final of University Challenge. Conor and his teammates from Imperial College London beat out the competition from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge in the final round of the famous BBC quiz show. After taking his undergraduate degree at Trinity College Dublin, Conor completed further studies at Oxford University before moving onto to a PhD in computer science at Imperial where he is in his second year. While the rounds were completed back in autumn, Conor had to keep the lips sealed until the final was broadcast. A fantastic achievement and the Union is delighted to see a pastman (and an Irishman) excel on such a stage. Perhaps it won’t come as the biggest shock to his classmates given his achievements whilst a student at the College. We wish Conor well as he continues his studies.
